SplitKhata helps a group of friends keep track of who paid for what. To do that it has to store a small amount of information about you. This page says exactly what, why, and what happens to it. There is no advertising in the app, no analytics, and nothing about you is sold to anybody.
What is collected
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | It is how you sign in, and the only way to get back into your account. |
| The name you choose | So the people in your groups can tell whose expense is whose. You pick it, and you can change it at any time. It does not have to be your real name. |
| What you enter about money | The expenses you add — a description, an amount, a date, and who it was split between — plus the payments you record between people. This is the app. |
| Your groups | Their names, their currency and their invite codes. |
| Where friends can pay you (optional) | If you choose to, a bank or wallet name, the name on the account, and an account number, IBAN or phone number. You type it yourself, and it is shown to the people in your groups next to what they pay you, so nobody has to ask for it. SplitKhata does not connect to your bank and cannot move money. Clear the fields to remove it. |
| A notification token | Only if you turn notifications on. It identifies your phone so a message can reach it, and nothing else. Turning notifications off removes it. |
What is never collected: no card details, no bank login, no connection to any bank or wallet — SplitKhata records who paid, it never moves money, and the only account details it holds are the ones you choose to type in. No location. No contacts or address book. No advertising identifier. No analytics or tracking of any kind. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics software at all.
Who can see it
- The people in your groups. Everyone in a group can see that group's expenses, the payments recorded in it, and the display name and balance of everyone else in it. That is the purpose of the app.
- Nobody outside your groups. Someone who is not a member cannot read anything about your group, even if they somehow have its internal identifier. This is enforced by the database itself, not just by the app.
- Your email address is never shown to other members, not even to the person who made the group.
Where it is kept
The data is stored with Supabase, on servers in Singapore, which provides the database and the sign-in system on SplitKhata's behalf. Notifications, if you turn them on, are delivered through Expo's push service, which receives the notification text and your device token in order to hand it to Apple or Google. Neither company is permitted to use your information for their own purposes. Everything sent between the app and the server is encrypted in transit.
Deleting your account
Open Your account in the app and tap Delete my account. Your name, email address, account details and notification token are erased immediately and you are signed out for good.
One thing to know, because it is the honest answer: the expenses you entered stay in the group, shown against "Deleted user". They have to. Other people's totals were calculated from them, and removing them would silently change what your friends believe they are owed. Nothing that identifies you remains attached to them.
You cannot delete your account while you still have money to pay, or money to get back, in any group — finish those first, so nobody is left out of pocket by your leaving.
If you would rather ask than use the app, or you have lost access to your account, write to javediqbal8381@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and it will be done within 30 days. See the account deletion page for the full instructions.
How long it is kept
Your account and your expenses are kept for as long as you have an account, because the whole point of the app is that last year's trip is still there to look at. After you delete your account, what remains is only the anonymised expense rows described above.
Children
SplitKhata is not designed for children and is not directed at anyone under 18. No information is knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has created an account, write to the address below and it will be removed.
Your rights
You can see everything the app holds about you from inside the app, change your name at any time, correct or delete any expense, and delete your account entirely. If you are in a place with data protection laws that give you further rights — to a copy of your data, or to object to how it is handled — write to the address below and they will be honoured.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything significant will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
